Dana Walsh Sivak Honored With LIBN’s Leaders in Law Award

We are pleased to announce that FRB Partner and Chair of Elder Law Dana Walsh Sivak, Esq. has been honored with the 2024 Long Island Business News Leaders in Law Award for Partners. This award recognizes attorneys who demonstrate excellence in their legal practice while making impactful contributions to the Long Island community.

Long Island Business News (LIBN) has been a trusted source for business news in Nassau and Suffolk counties since 1953. Its Leaders in Law award highlights legal professionals who have distinguished themselves through their professional accomplishments, leadership, and dedication to the community.

Dana has built a remarkable career focusing on elder law, working closely with her clients and their families to create individualized long-term care plans, including advanced Medicaid planning techniques. Her areas of expertise include guardianship proceedings, complex Medicaid eligibility issues, and nursing home litigation. Dana is known for her innovative approach to resolving legal challenges faced by seniors, helping them preserve their assets while ensuring access to the best care possible.

In addition to her work with elder law, Dana has been a pioneer in advocating for medical cannabis access for seniors through the New York State medical cannabis program. She has been instrumental in helping residential health care facilities implement medical cannabis programs and maintain compliance with state laws as part of FRB’s Cannabis & Psychedelics Practice Group.

Dana’s legal expertise extends beyond elder law and advocacy for seniors. She is an accomplished author, frequently contributing to prestigious legal publications, and has been recognized with several awards, including the LIBN's “Forty Under 40” Award and the Super Lawyers “Rising Star” designation. She is also actively involved in charitable initiatives supporting organizations such as Girls Inc. of Long Island, Girl Scouts of Nassau County, and the Alzheimer’s Association (Long Island Chapter), to name a few.

The Leaders in Law Awards celebration will take place on November 12, 2024, from 4:30 - 7:00 pm EST at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York. Congratulations to Dana for this well-deserved recognition!
