Amarilda B. Fligstein is Senior Counsel in FRB’s Elder Law and Probate & Administration of Trusts & Estates Practice Groups. Amarilda is a highly regarded attorney, serving as a trusted resource who helps clients navigate some of life’s most difficult transitions with confidence and dignity.
Amarilda’s practice spans the full continuum of elder law and trusts and estates work. She is an experienced and trusted advocate for individuals and families, guiding clients through every stage of planning, care, and transition with clear communication, practical counsel, and compassionate advocacy. Clients rely on Amarilda for thoughtful, strategic guidance that protects loved ones, preserves assets, and brings clarity to complex decisions.
Amarilda focuses a significant portion of her practice advocating for the rights of individuals who cannot advocate for themselves, including in Article 81 guardianship cases and Surrogate’s Court proceedings involving incapacitated or intellectually/developmentally disabled individuals. Amarilda is frequently appointed by the Court to serve in crucial roles in these complex proceedings, including as a Court Evaluator, Counsel to the Alleged Incapacitated Person, Counsel to Guardian, and Guardian Ad Litem, where her tenacious advocacy and legal expertise combine to ensure the needs and interests of the individuals in these matters are advanced at all stages of these cases. Her approach is meticulous and solutions‑oriented, always focused on minimizing conflict, streamlining administration, and honoring client goals.
Amarilda’s commitment to serving the community has been recognized throughout the course of her legal career, leading her to receive several recognitions for her significant pro bono contributions. She serves as Editor of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association Newsletter, and is an active member of numerous committees of the Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
