A Closer Look: Federal Paid Sick Leave During the Pandemic
The Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act (EPSLA) became effective on April 1, 2020 and expires December 31, 2020 (unless extended). The EPSLA is part of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). Under EPSLA, covered employers must apprise employees of the law and conspicuously display the new Department of Labor poster. Many private employers in New York State will be covered by this new law.
