FRB is Now Offering Pro Bono Estate Planning to Frontline Health Providers
Falcon Rappaport & Berkman PLLC and the FRB COVID-19 Task Force are now offering Pro Bono Estate Planning for those serving on the front lines of the pandemic.
While much of the world shelters in place, our medical frontline workers—the nurses, EMTs, and custodial staff maintaining our hospitals—are putting their lives in danger every day as they go about taking care of our communities and saving the lives of others. To help healthcare frontline workers protect themselves and their families, FRB is offering the following free life planning assistance to qualified individuals working on the medical frontlines and their spouses:
Simple Last Will and Testament (“LWT”): This document sets forth how your property will be distributed among your loved ones at the time of your death. The LWT names Executors, Guardians, and Trustees. The Guardians are the people who fill parental duties toward a child in the event both parents pass before the child reaches the age of majority. The Trustees serve as custodians of the money and other property a decedent leaves behind for a child’s benefit. The trusts inside of the LWT last until each child reaches the age of 35.
Durable Power of Attorney: This document specifies a Financial Agent to act on your behalf in the event you become incapacitated and unable to handle your own financial affairs. These financial matters may include paying everyday bills, communicating with advisors and the government, or operating a business.
Health Care Proxy: This document specifies a Health Care Agent to act on your behalf in the event you become incapacitated and unable to make your own medical decisions.
